Pacific Avenue (1995)

Pacific Avenue (1995)

This choice site was acquired from a bank that had taken back a half built would-be hotel/bed-and-breakfast that powerful neighbors had shut down and forced into foreclosure. The weathered wood frame shell was disassembled by hand and recycled. I selected brick and cast stone as the façade material which had been used in other older homes nearby but had been avoided in recent years. The brick façade was carefully tied into the structural plywood shear wall and provides a rich texture and plastic relief when coupled with the deeply recessed windows. The building was designed by McEachron Architects, Inc, and built by Kevin Webb Construction, Inc.
