Simon Etherington is the Chief Operating Officer of Willis and Company and he plays an active role in all aspects of the development process. Simon was born and raised on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, MA and began working in the construction industry during high school. He originally joined Willis and Co in 2003 and helped complete The T House and Island House before returning to college in 2006. Simon majored in Political Science, with a minor in Art History, at the University of California Davis. After UC Davis he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and obtained a Masters of Real Estate from The Johns Hopkins University.

Simon spent nearly 4 years working as the Senior Baltimore Associate for ValStone Partners. Valstone Partners is approximately a $500MM private equity investment firm. His primary job responsibilities were acquisition, asset management and disposition of real estate backed debt obligations. In addition to working with distressed mortgages, bonds, fee simple real estate, and real estate development, Simon was also able to gain important experience in investment fund structure and administration.

Simon’s finance and underwriting background assists in the early phases of development at Wills and Co. As well, his experience working through difficult distressed real estate situations keeps him on the lookout for critical pitfalls that both investors and real estate developers need to avoid. Simon works on all phases of the development process, including design, permitting, construction supervision and disposition. Simon is also a real estate agent (License 01941326) with Willis and Co. Brokerage.
